Evergreen is a primary special school for pupils aged 2–11, with sites in Bishop Auckland and Newton Aycliffe, the latter opened in September 2026. We support children with severe, profound and multiple learning difficulties, complex learning difficulties and autism. Many of our pupils also have medical, physical and sensory needs, as well as complex communication needs. Every pupil has an Education, Health and Care (EHC) plan.

Outstanding specialist facilities. At Bishop Auckland, pupils enjoy a hydrotherapy pool, sensory rooms, a soft play room and large outdoor play areas. Our purpose-designed Newton Aycliffe site has sensory regulation areas linked to every classroom and safe, enclosed outdoor courtyards. It also has great play spaces and access to community facilities such as the PCP Centre and the Tim Lamb Centre.
